Police say Shannon Godbout fatally struck MacLeod while he was walking his dogs along Spring Street. The 70-year-old Hopkinton resident was taken to hospital with severe injuries and later died. Macleod was a bassist with the band Roomful of Blues during the 1980s, the period in which the group received one of its Grammy nominations. He was inducted into the Rhode Island Hall of Fame in 2014. In later years, he worked as a music educator and taught at Brown University with his wife, musician and educator Sandol Astrausky.
